If your Yolin E-bike display shows an error code, it is not random. It is a system protection signal.

Every Yolin display communicates continuously with the controller, motor, throttle, brake sensors, and battery. When communication becomes unstable—or a safety threshold is exceeded—the display reports it.

This guide helps you determine whether the issue is:

  • Wiring-related
  • Sensor-related
  • Controller-level
  • Or a temporary communication interruption

Important: Yolin manufactures display systems used by various electric bike brands(such as Engwe, Heybike, Aipas and more). Final vehicle configuration, controller setup, and wiring architecture are defined by the e-bike manufacturer. This guide explains what the display is reporting — not full vehicle diagnosis.


Step 1 — Perform a Safe System Reset

  1. Turn the bike off completely.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Turn it back on.
  4. Ensure the battery and display connectors are fully seated.
  5. Confirm brake levers return fully.

Many temporary communication errors are caused by unstable voltage or loose connectors. If the error disappears and does not return, it was likely a transient signal interruption.

On your Hikeep K6, the combination of Error 2 and E01-00 typically points to a brake sensor issue or a throttle malfunction that is preventing the motor from engaging.
Because ebikes are designed to cut power to the motor as soon as you pull the brakes for safety, a “stuck” sensor will trick the bike into thinking you are braking, causing it to display an error and refuse to move.
The most common cause for Error 2 is a brake lever that hasn’t fully returned to its resting position or a sensor that is short-circuiting.
The Unplug Test: Trace the wires coming from your left and right brake levers. There should be a small, waterproof connector (often red) on each line. Unplug one at a time and turn the bike on.
If the error disappears when the left brake is unplugged, the sensor in that lever is faulty.
Repeat this for the right side.
Mechanical Check: Ensure your brake levers aren’t physically stuck or slightly pulled. Sometimes a bit of dirt or a loose screw prevents the lever from fully clicking back.
Step 2: Inspect the Throttle
If the brakes aren’t the issue, E01-00 can sometimes indicate a throttle that is sending an “on” signal while the bike is starting up.

Visual Inspection: Check the throttle for any physical damage or if it’s rubbing against the handlebar grip, which might keep it slightly twisted.
Throttle Reset: Ensure the throttle is in the fully closed position when you power the bike on. If you are holding the throttle while turning the key, the bike will throw this error as a safety precaution.

Step 3: Check Main Cable Connections
If the above steps don’t work, there may be a loose connection further down the line.

The “Main Harness” Connection: Check the large, multi-pin connector usually located near the handlebars or where the cables enter the frame. Unplug it, check for bent or wet pins, and firmly reseat it.
Power Cycle: Turn off the bike, disconnect the battery for 60 seconds, and then reinstall it to clear the controller’s temporary memory.

Hello, I have an e bike a hikeep k6 with an 81f screen. When I switch the bike on it flashes error 2 in the middle of the screen and on the bottom it says e01-00. I can’t seam to figure out what the code actually is and was wandering if you could help. Thank you!!
